Camp Lavi is a modern Orthodox, co-ed camp and is described as the Pocono Mountain’s premiere modern orthodox summer camp. The camp’s mission states a dedication to values derived from sportsmanship, friendship, respect, and personal responsibility, balanced with Torat Yisroel and a secular lifestyle. Established in 1977, Camp Lavi has provided this experience for more than forty years.
The professionally trained staff is made up of educators, athletes, Rabbis, and lifestyle experts. Each summer, the camp includes a strong Israeli Mishlachat and an integrated Yachad program. The Life @ Lavi program is open to current 1st–3rd graders.
Camp Lavi can host events for schools, synagogues, or organizations and is available for rental from the end of March until mid June and from the end of August through mid October. The campus and facilities can accommodate over 600 guests, with private “hotel-style” housing for adults in newer facilities and an onsite Lavi liaison provided for every group. It is available for retreats, group getaways, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, weddings, reunions, and more, and is located only 2 1/2 hours from New York City.
Parents have shared that their children came home “thrilled, and raving about camp” and described feeling that they are “a part of something special.” One parent reported that a daughter was “more campsick than she's ever been homesick” and did not want her camp blanket washed because “it smells of camp.” Another parent said their son talked nonstop about “the most wonderful time of his life, the new friendships he has formed, the amazing trips, the games and the food,” and called it “a perfect first time sleep-a-way camp experience.” A parent of a Lower Teen camper shared that their daughter, who has been at Lavi her entire camp life, said “this is the best summer ever.”
