Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania was founded in 1888. Its mission is to do whatever it takes to help all young people, especially those who need it most, reach their full potential and grow into caring, responsible, and empowered citizens. It is one of the largest out-of-school-time providers in the region and serves children and families across Greater Pittsburgh, serving over 10,500 youth annually across Allegheny and Somerset Counties. Programs operate in 11 locations, including stand-alone clubhouses, school-based clubhouses, teen centers, and the TOP Program, with advisory committees at stand-alone clubhouses supporting local fundraising efforts and the youth and neighborhoods served.
Staff and volunteers complete Mandated Reporter Training, hold professional certifications from Boys & Girls Clubs of America, and full-time staff are trained in First Aid and CPR. All staff and volunteers have FBI Fingerprint Criminal History Clearance and Act 33/34 (Child Abuse and Criminal Record) clearances. The organization is guided by core values of safety, fun, and inclusion and provides safe spaces, caring mentors, and life-changing programs.
The leadership team includes Chris Watts (President & CEO), Lindsey Ramsey (Chief Operating Officer), Keith Gardner (Chief Financial Officer), Kara Petrosky (Vice President, Programs), and Zoia DiMillo (Vice President, Advancement), along with additional directors and managers in areas such as prevention and mentoring programs, external affairs, technology, safety and security, facilities, and family resources. Governance includes a Board Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer, Secretary, several committee chairs, trustees, and non-voting and honorary board members. Chris Watts, President and CEO, states, “Our responsibility is to respond to the need. That’s what we’ve always done for our kids, for our communities. That’s what we will continue to do every day.”
