Assemble Programs offers activities such as a workshop for kids on how solar panels work and an exhibition that uses modern technology to recreate the experience of a local farm. The program takes place in a community space for arts and technology education called Assemble | A Community Space For Arts + Technology, which includes the 4824 Penn Ave Gallery.
Assemble Programs is part of Assemble, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization founded in 2011 and dedicated to fostering learning and creativity. Assemble’s mission is to build confidence through making by creating approachable opportunities for learners of all ages to engage with Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STEAM) based activities. Assemble unites communities of artists, technologists, makers, and learners both in its space at the 4824 Penn Ave Gallery and beyond, and it hosts a free monthly gallery exhibition called Unblurred on the first Friday of each month from 6–10pm, where a different local artist showcases work each month. Assemble envisions diverse neighborhoods of empowered people who create, connect, learn, and transform together, and it connects children in its neighborhood with events and workshops related to science, technology, engineering, art, and math. Assemble welcomes people who know things and people who want to know things into its community, and its programs are supported by community members. The Assemble team is described as approachable, passionate about their work, and reflective of the community they serve.
