EECM Children & Youth Services

EECM Children & Youth Services includes a Summer Day Camp and an intervention program for extremely high-risk youth called PHYSED (Points of Healthy Youth Sustainability Engagement and Development). The Summer Day Camp is a 5-week program that is part of a broader set of East End Cooperative Ministry (EECM) services that also include tutoring programs and interfaith events. These children and youth services exist alongside other EECM programs such as Meals on Wheels, the “Souper Bowl” Soup Kitchen, Food Pantry, Emergency Shelter, Drop-In Center, Bridge Housing, PennFree Housing program, Safe Haven permanent housing for men with mental challenges, Families Achieving Independence Through Housing (F.A.I.T.H), EECM WorkForce, EECM SewForward, Recovery House, and an overflow shelter.

• Schedule: Summer Day Camp runs as a 5-week session; Food Pantry operates Monday–Friday with service hours from 8:30–10:30am and 11:30am–1:30pm

East End Cooperative Ministry (EECM), which runs EECM Children & Youth Services, was founded in 1970 as a collective response to changes in the East End community. It was created when local faith communities decided to work together to serve the young, the elderly, and the poor of the area and to promote interfaith events. EECM was officially incorporated in 1970 and celebrated 50 years of service in 2020, and some programs it developed, such as the East End Food-Coop and Sojourner House, have become independent organizations. The organization’s mission statement is that EECM changes the lives of people facing the impacts of poverty. The leadership of EECM includes Dr. Diona Jones, President and CEO.
