About

Triangle Academy of Jiu-Jitsu – Kids & Adult Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Programs offers training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, Wrestling, and Kickboxing. The program includes separate options for adults and kids, with adult Fundamentals and Mastery tiers and kids’ Ninjas, Juniors, and Advanced Kids groups. Wrestling basics are heavily incorporated into the kids’ Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu curriculum, and the Advanced Kids Program includes high-volume live training.

• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Class options are available seven days a week, with hours ranging from early morning to evening on weekdays and daytime options on weekends.

Triangle Academy of Jiu-Jitsu opened on October 1, 2018, and represents the Pedigo Submission Fighting team as one of its affiliates. The academy serves students from Fairview, Brentwood, College Grove, Eagleville, Franklin, Murfreesboro, Nashville, Nolensville, Spring Hill, and Thompsons Station. The mission of the program is to provide world-class Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Franklin and the surrounding areas, maintain a clean and safe environment, and create a supportive, healthy culture in the gym and community.

The leadership team includes Owner and Head Coach Clay Mayfield; Adult Coach and Varsity Director Blake Brown; Adult Coach Zach Heath; Head Kids Coach Foster Ehrie; Adult Coach and Senior Kids Coach Justin Claphan; Kids Coach Rishi Martinez; and Kids Coach Alexandrea (Alex/Alexandra) Johnson. Coaches are described as certified Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu coaches, and several staff members hold notable competitive achievements, including IBJJF World, Pans, NoGi, state, and CON titles. Private lessons are available, and there are no mat fees for cross-training visitors.

For Intro Trial Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes, a Gi is provided, and students are asked to bring a water bottle and flip-flops or slides, with sports bras and compression shorts recommended for ladies under the uniform. For Kickboxing classes, students wear normal gym clothes such as workout shorts without pockets or yoga pants and a t-shirt, and loaner gloves and shin guards are provided for the first two classes. Ongoing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu uniform guidelines include white, blue, or black IBJJF-compliant Gis, no shirt or rash guard under the Gi (with sports bras required for female athletes), and mouthguards for live training.

Parent and student feedback describes the coaches as “great,” the culture as “awesome,” and the facilities as “clean and top notch,” and notes that visitors have been treated like regular members and that kids are pushed to do their best while still having fun.
