About

The Power Hour Homework Tutoring Program focuses on homework help through structured homework tutoring and dedicated Power Hour Sessions. Kids and teens work on their homework with support from Boys & Girls Club staff, either in-person or virtually, as part of the Power Hour program that is nationally sponsored by Ross.

• Price: Every $5 donation helps provide one half hour of homework help for a Club youth. $15 helps keep a kid safe after school.

At Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley, the organization has been dedicated to changing lives since 1943 and provides programming for over 7,500 members annually from pre-K through high school across 26 Clubs in five counties in East Tennessee. Its programming includes academic success, healthy lifestyles, good character and leadership, youth arts, and workforce development through the YouthForce initiative. More than 1,200 members attended a Homework Help or Power Hour Session during the 2022–2023 school year.

Power Hour is a homework tutoring program nationally sponsored by Ross Stores, Inc. Ross is the national sponsor of Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s Power Hour and supports a three-week program called “Help Local Kids Thrive.” Ross will match the first $400,000 raised in the “Help Local Kids Thrive” campaign, and 100% of the funds raised at each Ross store benefit Boys & Girls Clubs, with 80% directed to a Club in the local community. This is the 10th annual Ross Stores, Inc. fundraiser for Boys & Girls Clubs, and together with its customers, Ross has raised and donated more than $46 million to support Boys & Girls Clubs of America and Power Hour.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley lists Bart McFadden as President and CEO of BGCTNV and Matt Young as Group Senior Vice President at Ross Stores. BGCTNV is a United Way Community Partner.
