Fantastic Magic Camp describes itself as a joyful, inclusive day camp for kids ages 5–12, using magic, juggling, puppetry, and performance arts as tools to build confidence, creativity, and connection, and to build self-esteem and lifelong social skills. The camp states that it does not foster competition among campers and instead gives them room to grow at their own pace. It has been operating since 1993 and refers to itself as Austin’s most magical camp, with more than 30 years of operation.

The camp was founded by two professional magicians, The Fantastic Kent Cummins and Peter the Adequate, and every counselor on the team was once a camper, including one who attended the very first session in 1993. Counselors are described as skilled magicians and jugglers. Fantastic Magic Camp offers Summer, Spring, Winter, and other holiday camps and events, as well as afterschool classes and private programming. It also offers early drop-off and extended pick-up through the Rehearsal Time program for camps and mini-camps at the Crestview site, and most camps and programs take place at the North Central Austin location in Crestview. The Mt Playmore option is located inside Texas’s largest indoor playscape and is described as a smaller, beginner-friendly camp experience that is recommended for younger campers who are new to the summer camp experience.

Campers learn magic, juggling, puppets, and a host of varied circus and variety arts skills, and the day ends with a show by a magician, juggler, clown, puppeteer, ventriloquist, or storyteller, most often a magician. Campers take home a magic briefcase full of tricks and memories. The Performer’s Academy is an exclusive two-week program that runs alongside regular camp for campers ages 10–16, with a focus on producing, rehearsing, and performing a full magic and variety entertainment show. The Youth Leadership Academy is a leadership training program for participants ages 13–18 who have aged out of regular camps and want to intern at Magic Camp.

Fantastic Magic Camp has been creating experiences for Austin-area families since 1993, and many campers return year after year, eventually becoming counselors and even staff or board members. Parent and camper feedback includes comments that it is a “summer favorite” with counselors described as positive, patient, thoughtful, sweet, friendly, and skilled magicians and jugglers, and that one camper and counselor still uses lessons learned there over 10 years later. Parents report that their children enjoy daily performances, practicing new tricks, and performing magic shows at home, and describe the camp as fun, inclusive, and challenging, with “lots of neat extra touches.”

For summer 2026, the Crestview summer camp offers Session 1 from June 1–June 12, Session 2 from June 15–June 26, Session 3 from June 29–July 10, Session 4 from July 13–July 24, Session 5 from July 27–August 7, and Session 6 from August 10–August 14 as a one-week session. The Mt Playmore summer camp offers four one-week sessions: Session 1 from July 6–10, 2026, Session 2 from July 13–17, 2026, Session 3 from July 20–24, 2026, and Session 4 from July 27–31, 2026.
