Austin Yacht Club Youth Sailing Programs

Austin Yacht Club Youth Sailing Programs include a Youth Sailing Program, Summer Youth Sailing Camps, and a Junior Sailing Program. Specific activities include PB&J Sail Training for very young sailors, Beginning Sailing 5, Learn To Sail Clinics, Learn to Race Clinics, Race Management Clinics, and an Adult 420 Practice Clinic. The club also runs Summer Camp: SailStrong, Summer Camp: Session 7, PB&J Session 2: Early Morning, PB&J Session 2: Late Morning, Friday Night Beer Can races, Wednesday Night Laser/Sunfish races, the 2026 Beer Can Races, the 2026 Summer Series, Series Races, and annual Club Regattas.

The Austin Yacht Club was founded in 1951 as the Austin Sailing Club and became the Austin Yacht Club in 1969. Its mission states that it is a premier sailing club with an emphasis on sailboat racing, sailing education, and social activities for the entire family, and that it creates a focused and relaxed atmosphere with family-oriented activities centered around volunteerism in leadership, committees, events, and activities. Camps and clinics are typically taught by members with world-class cruising and racing experience, and AYC is an accredited ASA Sailing School. Programs and events include junior and adult sail training, and many programs are free or discounted for AYC members and open to non-members. The Youth Sailing Program and Summer Youth Sailing Camps include PB&J Sail Training for sailors as young as age four, and a Junior Student Membership allows limited, supervised use of the AYC facilities by junior sailors who are learning to race. AYC members have a long tradition of volunteerism, including Club Work Parties, Series Races, Club Regattas, and numerous social gatherings.
