Southwest Austin Pop Warner (SWAPW) is a non-profit organization that provides youth football and cheer programs for children ages 5–12 years old in southwest Austin and surrounding areas. SWAPW is associated with the Pop Warner Little Scholars, Inc. organization nationally and is a member of Hill Country Pop Warner locally. Pop Warner Little Scholars, Inc. was founded in 1929 and is described as the largest youth football, cheer and dance program in the world, and it is the only youth football and cheerleading organization that requires its participants to maintain academic standards in order to participate. The SWAPW Board of Directors includes President Robert Brown, Co-Vice Presidents Sophia Diaz and Jim Corriveau, Secretary and Little Scholars Coordinator Laura Ethridge, Treasurer Gabriela Brown, Cheer Coordinator La'Kia Tyler, Football Coordinator Brett Lewis, Fundraiser and PR/Marketing and Social Media Coordinator Winter Green-Ike, Merchandise Coordinator Jess Evans, Safety Coordinator Siria Cozart, Team Parent Coordinator Laura Ethridge, General Counsel (Advisory role) Clayton Stone, and At-Large Members Janan Miller and Matt Lamm, with Concession Coordinator and Equipment Coordinator listed as open positions. The program’s stated mission is to provide an atmosphere that emphasizes safety, academics, fun, teamwork, leadership, and pride.
