U.S. Softball Academy offers hitting, pitching, catching, fielding, and base running instruction, along with situational softball games and competition drills. • Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: 4-day camps with 90 minute sessions each week
U.S. Softball Academy’s stated mission is “Building Better Players,” with camps designed to develop skills in all facets of the game and an emphasis on teaching proper fundamentals and techniques. It operates as a national program with a local touch, using a teaching staff of coaches from the local area. At U.S. Softball Academy Spring Training, players receive instruction from some of the area’s top high school and college coaches, and an average session includes about 30 players with six or seven experienced and professionally trained coaches. The program describes itself as the nation’s largest network of softball camps, hosting in more than 100 cities across the country, with age-specific sessions tailored to each ability level, a low player-coach ratio, and drill progressions focused on developing good habits while improving overall softball skills. Sessions are offered through age 18 in the winter/spring program and through 14 in the summer program, and each location follows the same itinerary of drills, low player-coach ratio, and local coaching staff. In the summer full-day program, players take part in a Wiffle Ball World Series and other competitions, with prizes for winners, and all participants receive a t-shirt and camp certificate.
