About
Fort Cavazos Youth Centers (Middle School & Teen Program) offers activities such as robotics, STEM activities, digital movie making, music making, photography, graphic design, and web development. The program also includes homework assistance, Internet surfing, Middle School Torch Clubs, High School Keystone Club, community service, the Career Explorations Program, the Workforce Prep program, educational special activities, the Project Learn Program, trips, social activities, use of full size gyms, game rooms with the newest systems out, and social areas.
• Ages: 11–18 years old
• Schedule: Youth centers offer afternoon and evening hours Monday–Saturday, with orientation at 6 p.m. Monday–Friday and an after-school Teen Taxi pick-up service Monday–Friday.
• Price: Teen Taxi service is free.
The program operates across four youth centers that each include Youth Tech Labs with wifi throughout the center and CYBERsitter content filtering software that complies with the Children’s Internet Protection Act. Each user is taught safe Internet skills before using any of the lab computers, and Youth Tech Labs play a dynamic role in daily club activities. The MS/T program has qualified homework instructors who assist teens with homework and with finding college scholarships and grants, and teens within the leadership program have opportunities for college scholarships and grants. USDA Snacks are provided at no charge to all CYS members Monday–Saturday.
Club members take part in community service, and middle school and high school teens have chances to have their voice heard by community command leaders. High school teens may represent the installation’s teens at forums and boards held throughout the United States. The Teen Sponsorship program helps relocate youth become familiar with their new home and assists teens when moving to a new post, and each quarter the centers hold a Hail & Farewell event. Youth Centers are always looking for new teen sponsors.
