School of Rock Fulshear offers music lessons that combine weekly private music lessons, weekly group rehearsals, and weekly group music lessons. Students take part in one-on-one instruction, group rehearsals, songwriting exercises, lyrical workshops, live performances, and recording original songs. Programs at School of Rock Fulshear include Rock 101, the Rookies program, the Little Wing program, a Songwriting program, and an Adult Program that all use a performance-based music education approach with a patented music education system (PROFICIENCY METHOD) that combines 1-on-1 lessons with group band practices.
• Ages: 4–18 years old
• Schedule: Every few months, Performance Program students play at local music venues in front of a live audience, and every few months Songwriting students perform or record their original songs.
Founded as a single school in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1998, School of Rock has grown to over 385 locations in 16 different countries, with more than 65,000 students worldwide. School of Rock Fulshear is opening soon and is now enrolling, and families can schedule a free trial. The Rookies program uses simplified rock instruments, and Little Wing students use hand percussion and other tools to learn rhythm patterns and music syntax. Rock 101 students learn to play simplified classic rock songs and are assigned songs and parts tailored to their age, experience, and ability to learn new skills and concepts, while Rookies students learn fundamentals like chords, rhythm, and song structure, and Little Wing teaches foundational music skills through games and interactive musical activities. The Songwriting program teaches the fundamentals of songwriting, arrangement, and music theory and supports students in composing original works, and students in performance-based programs take the stage and play at local music venues in front of a live audience. An independent study found that after joining School of Rock programs, 96.2% of parents saw a boost in their child’s self-confidence and 95.9% reported improved teamwork skills.
