Camp Cedarbrook Texas is a Christ-centered, Bible-based outdoor camping ministry dedicated to developing God-centered relationships and equipping individuals for Christ-like service and Christian leadership. The camp is affiliated with The Association of Cedarbrook Camps and offers a Camper in Leadership Training (CILT) program for high school girls and boys that is structured as a five-week program spread over three years. The camp strives to maintain an effective camper-to-counselor ratio of 7 to 1, with additional support staff bringing the camper-to-staff ratio to 4 to 1.

Facilities include a lake with boating activities and a blob, air-conditioned cabins where campers are housed, a covered basketball court, expansive field space for games, firing ranges, a high ropes course, a swimming pool, a pasture for horsemanship, and a dining hall that provides nutritious meals and an atmosphere that promotes family style meal times. The nature center features animal visitors such as rabbits, pythons, bearded dragons, and geckos.

The camp’s archery program qualifies as an Explore Archery Club of the USA Archery program, and the rifle program is conducted by NRA certified and experienced instructors. At a minimum, there is a full-time Registered Nurse (RN) or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) on staff, a physician is always on call, and staff include individuals who are First Aid and CPR certified. The Texas State Health Department requires that camper and staff medical forms issued upon camp acceptance be properly filled out, including immunization records and a signature by a doctor or parent or guardian.

Camp Cedarbrook Texas has served in camping ministry since 1960, when it was licensed by Pioneer Clubs, Inc. under the names Piney Woods Camp Cherith and Lone Star Camp Cherith. Over time, the camp has continued under the name Camp Cedarbrook Texas.

Parent testimonials describe campers talking about camp throughout the year, forming pen pal relationships with cabin mates, and asking to return the next summer. One parent notes appreciation for separate weeks for boys and girls and mentions their children’s experiences with rope climbing, kayaking, riding horses, archery, and riflery. A long-time volunteer with more than 10 years on staff at Lone Star (TX) Camp Cedarbrook and additional years at Saguaro (AZ) Camp Cedarbrook reports extensive camp ministry experience and personal growth in his walk as a Christ-follower, his perspective as a mentor to young men, and his philosophy for camp ministry through his association with Camp Cedarbrook.
