Since 1974, Forest Glen Camps has provided camp experiences, building on roots that began with Camp Good News in 1965 and its first summer camp on a new plot of land in 1974. By 1984, the camp, then officially called Forest Glen Camps, served up to 160 campers at a time, and in 2004 it opened a second retreat center called Lakeside. Forest Glen Camps now includes retreat centers such as North Shore and Lakeside and hosts more than 30,000 campers each year, serving campers of all ages and groups of all sizes. The mission of Forest Glen Camps is to offer a Christ-centered retreat where individuals, families, and groups can recharge, reconnect, and grow in faith, with an emphasis on inspiring spiritual growth through retreats and programs, fostering connection through outdoor activities and adventures, and remaining united and rooted in a shared belief in Jesus Christ. Forest Glen Camps offers a Day Camp program, a Family Camp program, an Ignite Camp program, and an Outdoor Education program. One parent described Forest Glen Camps as having great cabins, fun activities, pretty good food, and helpers who were “awesome,” and other reviewers highlighted a life-changing experience, a “phenomenal” family weekend, and staff who were “amazing” and “so easy to work with.” Forest Glen Camps is described as one of the biggest camp and retreat centers in East Texas, serving groups from Houston, The Woodlands, Conroe, and Huntsville.
