• Ages: 6–16 years old
• Schedule: Day camps typically run from 8:30am to 3:45pm, with daily and weekly sessions and options for half, full, and multi-day camps
• Price: $50 refundable deposit for the 2-Week Future Coder Challenge
Skill Samurai Coding Camps and Classes is adult-led, with professional staff trained in computer science and engineering, and classes are taught by trained adult educators, not teenagers. The program uses games such as Roblox and Minecraft to teach coding fundamentals like loops, arrays, and conditional statements, and offers courses for beginners, intermediate, and advanced students with no coding background required. Classes run in small groups with low teacher-to-student ratios, most classes are limited to approximately ten students, and kids work in teams on special STEM projects with regular breaks away from devices. The program offers daily and weekly sessions with new themes every week, a fun new theme every day, and fresh content every session for holiday camps, and students can choose new topics each day or focus more deeply on a single topic. Personalized learning paths are designed and adapted with parents and students, there is a collaborative class culture, and memberships are flexible and month-to-month with no contracts. The 2-Week Future Coder Challenge includes two full sessions and a progress report, with the deposit applied to the first month if the student enrolls, and there are sibling, group, and multi-day discounts for camps, plus small group sessions with a maximum of eight kids for a free trial class.
Since 2015, Skill Samurai's curriculum has been used, and the company has been delivering creative camps worldwide for 10 years, empowering students worldwide since 2017. The program offers award-winning courses and states the mission that every child deserves the tools to thrive in a digital world, not just consume it. The leadership team includes Richard, franchise owner in Ashmore. Skill Samurai partners with local schools to deliver classes during the day and after school and has sponsored international projects including teaching sewing and business skills to women in Bangladesh, orphanage construction in India, and educating children in Nairobi.
Parent feedback includes comments that staff are patient, kind, and encouraging, and that one child with ASD has grown in confidence and ability and is keen to keep attending, as shared by Mitchell M. Another parent, Deborah E, reports that her son loved the Pokémon school holiday class and was proud to show his work at home. Nicole M reports that her son attended two days of holiday programs, had a fantastic time, and that the program is based on helping kids learn, grow, and work together.
