Laity Lodge Youth Camp

Laity Lodge Youth Camp offers high-energy recreation, wild adventures, peaceful renewal, and meaningful community for campers. Activities at the camp include a rodeo, a dance in the river, short devotional time, Roundup, Cabin Time, and playing outside.

LLYC was established in 1966 by the H.E. Butt Foundation. The camp’s mission states that it encourages campers to be themselves, develop deep friendships with their peers and counselors, explore faith in Christ, and encounter God. It is a Christian youth camp with a vision to welcome young people into uncommon acceptance and unconditional love and welcomes campers and staff from a wide variety of faith perspectives. The overall camper-to-counselor ratio is approximately four to one, and campers can attend Echo Valley or Singing Hills programs, with Singing Hills serving Grades 2–5 and Echo Valley serving Grades 6–10. Registration happens in the fall.

Daily morning devotional time includes peace and quiet, an introduced topic or activity, scripture to consider, and discussion led by staff. Each night, the all-camp gathering called Roundup includes singing, laughing, participation, and a talk by leadership staff, followed by Cabin Time for sharing and vulnerability about life, faith, struggles, concerns, and confusions. The camp avoids debates and defense of doctrines and dogma, emphasizing listening and meaningful conversation. Campers are recommended to use a trunk that is no taller than 15 inches and no longer than 34 inches, and camp trunks are preferred over suitcases because they are generally larger and make it easier for campers to keep personal items consolidated and easy to find.
