Museum of East Texas Youth Art Programs offers activities such as Super Saturday: Famous Artists, Spring Break at the MET, Maker's Matinee, Parents Night Out, Wee Art for 1–2 year olds, youth art classes, education classes, school and group tours, and summer Art Camp. The programs take place in a museum that maintains an extensive collection of paintings and sculptures produced by East Texas artists as well as American, Latin American, and European masters. Photography is permitted in the galleries unless otherwise noted, and sketching with pencil, felt tip, ballpoint, crayon, pastel, and charcoal is permitted in all galleries.

• Schedule: Gallery hours Tuesday–Friday 10 a.m.–5 p.m.; Saturday–Sunday 1–5 p.m.
• Price: Admission is completely FREE for everyone; donations are gratefully accepted.
The Museum of East Texas began in 1972, when seven women set out to transform the burned-out shell of the former St. Cyprian’s Episcopal Church into an arts and historical center for the children and families of East Texas, and since its inception in 1976 it has grown to become a dynamic cultural center. The Museum of East Texas is a nonprofit organization. The museum’s mission is to enrich and educate the diverse communities of East Texas through the celebration and exploration of art, with a commitment to providing inclusive access to exhibitions, educational programs, and creative experiences that inspire lifelong learning.
The Museum of East Texas offers free field trips for educators, including teachers, home school groups, specialty groups, daycare, or adult care facilities. Leadership for the museum includes Allyson Langston as Executive Director, Sherry Reinhardt as Director of Operations, Heather Hatton as Director of School & Family Programs, Kat Holcomb as Director of Outreach Programs, Julia Dion as Registrar and Curator of Collections, Elizabeth Jones as Collections Manager, Melba Parton as Front Desk Receptionist, and Mallory Hughes as Events Coordinator, along with an executive board and board members. The Museum of East Texas acknowledges support from organizations and groups such as Brookshire Brothers Charitable Foundation, The City of Lufkin, The I.D. & Marguerite Fairchild Foundation, The Bettye and Murphy George Foundation, The Simon and Louise Henderson Foundation, The Hunter Family Charitable Foundation, The Junior League of Lufkin, The E.L. Kurth, Jr., Charitable Foundation, Lufkin Independent School District, Museum of East Texas Members, The Pluss Family Foundation, The Redgrave Family Foundation, and Visit Lufkin.
