The YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas, which includes the McKinney Family YMCA, has more than 135 years of history serving the community. The leadership team includes Elise Back, Chief Growth Officer. The mission statement for the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas notes that it is a nonprofit organization serving almost 200,000 people annually through programs, outreach, and events throughout Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Palo Pinto, and Rockwall counties, with promoting a healthy lifestyle at the heart of its mission.
Community involvement includes serving almost 200,000 people annually and partnering with the City of Waxahachie and Ellis County, Texas, to break ground on the Cindy Hess Memorial Park, which will feature a pavilion, walking trail, sports fields, outdoor fitness areas, and more. The Dallas YMCA states that it intentionally leads and models a culture of engagement and belonging to impact and strengthen the foundation of the community. Unique facility features across the organization include state-of-the-art facilities, plenty of gym equipment, spacious group exercise rooms, a brand-new Park South Family YMCA facility, and renovations at YMCA Camp Grady Spruce with eight brand-new cabins, a renovated dining hall, a new welcome center planned, and expanded cabin capacity from 144 to 256 beds.
