Fort Aquatics operates as a 5200 square foot private indoor swim facility with a temperature controlled pool that runs year-round, with water temperature maintained around 90 degrees. The facility uses a state of the art UV water filtration system that completely changes over all of the pool water every 90 minutes and is described as a clean, safe, child-friendly facility. The program offers an indoor swim facility with an adaptive training methodology and programs customized and adapted to each child’s unique learning needs, along with better teacher to student ratios than most places and top-notch customer service. Fort Aquatics offers a free trial class.

The team at Fort Aquatics consists of dedicated, friendly, and well-trained instructors who have all undergone thorough background checks. Fort Aquatics is an affiliate business of Fort Montessori Academy and was created in unison with Fort Gymnastics and Fort Montessori to offer an a la carte set of services including swim lessons, day care, after school care, pick up from local schools, summer camp, winter camp, and gym lessons. Fort Aquatics is owned by Uma and Arun, who are also the founders of Fort Montessori and Fort Gymnastics, and the owners personally selected the curriculum offered at the school and underwent specialized training to join the Instructor Training Team. Fort Montessori opened in June 2010, and Fort Aquatics was established in June 2017, with Fort Aquatics management having over 10 years of experience with children and the owners having over 15 years of experience working with children. Uma Alagappan is the Co-Owner and Assistant Aquatic Director of Fort Aquatics.

Fort Aquatics states that its philosophy in teaching swimming and gymnastics is “Believe and Inspire,” which includes the belief that every child has the potential to learn and master any skill if it is taught properly and the child has a passion to learn, and that the job of the instructor is to inspire through encouragement and motivation. As part of its community involvement, Fort picks up children from elementary schools in and around Murphy and takes them to swim and gym classes as part of the program.

Parent testimonials describe children starting lessons as early as 6 months, progressing from disliking swim lessons elsewhere to swimming on their own at Fort Aquatics, and note growth in confidence, a calm and inviting atmosphere, and staff and swim teachers described as amazing. Other parents report children progressing in a few weeks from being terrified of water to swimming to retrieve toys from the bottom of the pool, and describe the staff as very nice and helpful and the facility as top notch. One parent chose Fort Aquatics because their child is sensitive to chemicals such as chlorine and noted that Fort Aquatics was the only place they found that uses a UV filter and a lot less chlorine, and reported that their child advanced through levels 1–4, attends four days a week, and benefits from caring, positive culture, fun trainers who still work on technique, and better teacher to student ratios than most places.
