Founded in 1998 in San Antonio, TX, USA, Musical Bridges Around the World was created by founder Anya Grokhovski, DMA. The organization’s mission statement is: “Celebrating our shared humanity by providing access to global arts for all.” Its youth programs are part of a larger organization that offers free world-class concerts, seasonal concert series, an annual music festival called UNITYFest, a quadrennial international piano competition called The Gurwitz, and several education-focused programs such as Musical Sprouts, the Colburn-Pledge Music Scholarship for bowed string students, Youth Ambassadors, and Golden Age concerts for seniors. Programs bring award-winning performers into schools, community centers, and underserved populations. The organization has received recognition including the 2025 Sister Cities International Innovation in Arts and Culture award, more than 20 festival awards for The Quilt film, and the 2017 Fair Saturday Award in Bilbao, Spain.
