The YMCA of Greater San Antonio was awarded a $5,000 Texas Bar Foundation Grant to support the Youth & Government Program, and Texas YMCA announced a partnership with the Bezos Family Foundation to increase student access to youth civic engagement opportunities.
Parents and members have shared that staff at the YMCA are friendly and helpful, and that children enjoy being on teams with coaches who engage with them. One parent reports that a child’s swimming skills and confidence increased enough to join a competitive swim team after six months in aquatics programming, and another notes that kids enjoy Kids Club with friends and arts and crafts. Members also describe using ChildWatch and Kids Club, group classes, and aquatics areas such as a large pool and splash pad, and mention that facilities and equipment are clean, modern, and well maintained.
