About
Gymboree Play & Music offers parent/child classes that explore the senses and support visual and auditory development, along with classes that build strength through play. Children take part in interactive games, play and music, including music class and activities with the parachute or bubbles. The program also hosts Winter Wonderland parties, holiday themed Open Gyms, and other festive activities to celebrate together with friends, and offers a Preschool Prep Membership with HOMER.
• Ages: 0–5 years old
The fun at Gymboree Play & Music began in 1976. Its mission states that the program recognizes that the relationships and experiences children have in the first three years of life have a profound impact on their future. Research-based programs are created by experts in early childhood development, using a child-led approach that builds upon each child’s own abilities and proprietary equipment designed to create challenges that inspire learning. Specially designed classes incorporate age-appropriate activities that support physical, cognitive, and social skill development as children play, and the program offers a wide range of early childhood classes for ages 0–5 years. Gymboree Play & Music also offers a private, personalized party experience filled with child-friendly activities.
The Preschool Prep Membership with HOMER focuses on preschool and kindergarten readiness. Preschool Prep classes introduce all 26 letters and relate each letter to fun, imaginative real-life themes. Preschool Prep includes a gentle introduction to independent learning so children can get comfortable with class participation without their grownup, and it combines parent/child activities with independent (drop-off) activities. In Preschool Prep, children explore movement, build literacy and social skills, and prepare for preschool, kindergarten, and life while learning to share, follow directions, and take turns, and they participate in simple back-and-forth conversational exchanges with teachers and other children.
Classes are taught by a trained teacher, and Gymboree Play & Music centers are owned and run by people described as exceptional who care about giving children the absolute best start in life. One parent said, “Great place For baby and kids! I totally recommend it.” Another parent shared that the staff is “awesome” and “extremely organized,” and recommended the program “to any mother.” Parents have noted that their children learn new motor skills, are around other children, and that teachers are very engaged with what they are teaching. One parent highlighted a music teacher who teaches the origin of an artist or genre and includes motor skills, memorization, and parent involvement. Another parent said her son’s favorite activity is anything to do with the parachute or bubbles, and a parent from Dallas, TX, shared that it has been “amazing to watch my daughter's confidence and abilities grow” after attending Gymboree Play & Music for a few months.
