Austin Youth Basketball is led by Chris Corbett. Basketball trainers are former collegiate or pro players who have been endorsed by USA Basketball, former NBA and WNBA players, college coaches, college players, and hundreds of basketball families. All trainers have passed an FBI fingerprint background check, the USA Basketball Verified Volunteer criminal background check, and the Dripping Springs School District check, and have undergone extensive professional and personal reference checks.

The program’s mission states that it delivers skills and confidence both on and off the court, with a training approach that focuses on passion, purpose, and power, and emphasizes striving toward goals, embracing failures, resiliency, courage, commitment to development, and making teammates stronger through trust, communication, and lifting people up.

Testimonials describe Chris Corbett and Austin Youth Basketball as having an “amazing level of passion for the game of basketball at all levels” and highlight his “high energy approach to working on the fundamentals of the game” and focus on each player’s strengths and weaknesses, according to Mike Vandegarde, a 15-year NBA scout, former Texas State coach, and former pro. Another testimonial states, “We learned more in two training sessions than we had in a whole season of select basketball.” A third testimonial from Mark Acres, a 7-year NBA veteran with the Boston Celtics and Orlando Magic, notes Chris Corbett’s dedication, focus, integrity, desire, and knowledge of the game, and states that “any player or program would benefit from having Chris on board for player development and reaching for higher standards.”
