Shotokan Karate Academy focuses on the traditional teachings of Gichin Funakoshi and Hidetaka Nishiyama, with Shotokan Karate taught as a traditional martial art where improvements in character and mental discipline are stated as being as important as physical skill. The academy states that Shotokan Karate is meant to be accessible to women, children, and those with or without great athletic ability, and that martial arts can be for everyone regardless of age, gender, or experience level. The academy describes its environment as caring, safe, comfortable, and welcoming for both children and adults, and notes that some Lehi members have seen improvements in as little as 7 days. Programs include options for preschoolers, kindergarteners, kids, teens, and adults, and for teens and adults there is a combination of Shotokan Karate and Jiu-Jitsu, along with a realistic and practical approach to self-defense.

Tiny Tigers is listed for ages 3–4, Kindergarten Tiny Tigers for ages 4–5, Little Dragons for ages 6–7, Beginner's Karate for ages 8–12, Teen Shotokan & Jiu-Jitsu for ages 13–17, and Adult Shotokan & Jiu-Jitsu for ages 18 and up. The leadership team includes Sensei Jordan Diaz as Chief Instructor, Senpai Kassie Fuller as Program Director, several Jr. Instructors (Senpai Luke Taylor, Senpai Kristine Webb, Senpai Kazuo Taquemasa, Senpai Andrew Detro, and Mr. Konnar Vanzant), Instructor Mrs. Jamie Stein, Assistant Instructors Mr. Aiden, Mr. Asher, Mr. Kaleb, and Ms. Micah, and Hanshi Ricardo Llewelyn as President of the International San Ten Karate Association (ISKA). Staff credentials include Sensei Jordan Diaz as Chief Instructor and founder of the Utah Association of Martial Arts (UAMA), Master Ty Hatfield as co-founder of UAMA, and Master Vincent Cruz as founder of ISKA. Sensei Ricardo Llewelyn has been practicing Shotokan Karate since 1970, holds a Kyu-Dan (9th Degree Black Belt) in Shotokan Karate, has been granted the titles of Shihan, Kyoshi, and Hanshi with ISKA, is the President of ISKA, and is also ranked with the Dai-Ichi Shotokan Karate Association (DSKA) and the International Traditional Karate Federation (ITKF).

Shotokan Karate Academy has served Lehi since 2019 and is a proud member of both the Utah Association of Martial Arts (UAMA) and the International San Ten Karate Association (ISKA). Through UAMA, which was founded by Sensei Jordan Diaz and Master Ty Hatfield to network martial arts schools across Utah and share knowledge and teachings of each style, members train every month at “Gatherings” for kids and adults of all skill levels. ISKA, founded by Master Vincent Cruz, includes members from California, South America, Canada, Europe, and other parts of the world. Shotokan Karate Academy provides martial arts classes to the Lehi, American Fork, Saratoga Springs, Highland, and Pleasant Grove communities, and also offers summer camp and birthday party services.

Parent and student testimonials describe the dojo as “real karate” rather than a quick black belt program, and say that children look forward to going and have learned values such as respect, discipline, obedience, listening, and focus. Several testimonials mention that a 6-year-old child loves going to karate, that a 3-year-old enjoys watching and wants to join, and that one child has learned to respect himself and others more and has more confidence after about a year. Multiple comments highlight Sensei Jordan Diaz and the staff as “amazing,” patient, understanding, and dedicated, and one family notes that they appreciate his flexibility with their schedule and enjoy seeing him twice a week.
