About

Local Motion Project Youth Program offers inclusive, non-competitive dance classes where young movers take part in activities such as Free Fridays, $15 Fridays, Sound Healing in Hammocks, Bhangra, and Intro to Kizomba. Each month, the program features these special class offerings as unique, accessible experiences that invite play, rest, and exploration into a movement practice. Classes are open to movers of all backgrounds and welcome all levels, from beginners to lifelong movers.

• Price: $15 Fridays

Local Motion Project Youth Program is led by a team that includes Brenna Cooley, President, Meg Williams, Treasurer, and Elizabeth Hein, Secretary. The program’s mission is to bring people of all ages together through dance and movement to spark creativity, curiosity, and joy, and its programs are open to everyone based on the belief that every body can move and everyone is creative. Local Motion Project is supported, in part, by the Virginia Commission for the Arts, which receives support from the Virginia General Assembly and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency. The program has a stated non-discrimination commitment welcoming and celebrating people of all races, colors, religions, genders, gender identities or expressions, ages, national origins, abilities, marital statuses, sexual orientations, and military backgrounds.
