Skipwith Academy has been a leader in early childhood education in the Richmond area since 1996, and the original day school building’s land was purchased in 1890, with an English style Tudor mansion built in 1927 that became a day school in the mid 20th century. In 2016, all Richmond area schools were rebranded with the Skipwith Academy name. Skipwith Academy comprises an educational network of nine licensed facilities.

Skipwith Academy schools are staffed with trained, enthusiastic individuals selected for their educational backgrounds, experiences, and understanding of and dedication to young children. Specially trained teachers lead the Preschool Readiness Enrichment Program (PREP) and Junior Kindergarten programs, and managers receive systematic classes on educational leadership. An Individualized Training Program is created for each teacher and manager, with periodic formal assessments done by education specialists.
