Oriental Sports Academy Martial Arts & Camps offers instruction in Taekwondo, Hapkido, Yudo (Judo)/Jiu-Jitsu, and Bon Kuk Gum Bub (Korean Sword). Oriental Sports Academy Martial Arts & Camps was established in 1973. The leadership team includes Master Stout (Master, 6th Dan), Instructor Hernandez, and Instructor Sethi. Master Stout has been teaching martial arts for more than 30 years, holds the rank of 6th Dan, and earned a B.S. in Neurophysiology. Instructor Hernandez brings experience working with at-risk youth and children with disabilities, managing and supervising camps, and developing and managing instructors and instructor training. Instructor Sethi brings experience working with at-risk youth, teen centers, and therapeutic recreation, and worked with Fairfax County from 1996 to 2016. Instructor Sethi earned a B.A. in Sociology/Anthropology with a concentration in French and holds a License in Clinical Social Work, with long-standing experience working with IEPs, adaptive exercises, and inclusion programs.
According to its mission statement, Oriental Sports Academy Martial Arts & Camps treats martial arts as a study and maintains high standards in its curricula and high expectations of each student. The mission statement notes that individuals learn at their own ability level and progress at their own pace in the traditional self-defense programs, and that students will gain confidence, achieve their goals, improve focus, and improve health.
