Compton Children’s Academy was established in 2017. The Executive Director is Charissa Shulsky. The program uses a secure video service for families called Watch Me Grow, with real-time HD streaming video of classrooms viewable from a mobile device or desktop, and Watch Me Grow cameras allow authorized families to access an open-door-policy online. The program also uses a finger-print entry security system allowing only those authorized to have access to the building, and sends daily reports to parents.

The mission of Compton Children’s Academy is to be the first choice and best resource for quality early childhood care and education in the Centreville region. The program states that it merges as a community of diverse families and educational professionals to inspire children’s curiosity, joy and incite a lifelong love of learning.

One parent, Dana and Philip Gibson, describe Executive Director Charissa Shulsky as an exceptional Director with strong leadership skills, excellent organization skills, innovation, responsibility, strong work ethic, reliability, strong communication skills, and a passion to ensure that the children under her supervision have the best possible quality of care. Another parent, Tiffany Ramirez, states that the staff are amazing, mentions that her three boys started at ages 4, 3, and 6 months, and reports that they are learning English, Spanish, and American Sign Language, as well as the ABCs, counting to 20, shapes, planets, animals, continents, and more. This parent also notes the live video feed, pictures and updates throughout the day, monthly field trips, end of the month study nights, holiday parties, picture days, and an exceptional summer camp. A third parent of an 8‑month‑old reports that the child loves the daycare, mentions tons of activities and different crafts, says the child was quick to become accustomed to the routine, and notes that the facility has live feed cameras and sends out daily reports.
