The Front Porch is a nonprofit dedicated to connecting all of us through music, with a mission to make music inclusive, affordable, and accessible to all. Its focus on music education extends through the Roots & Wings outreach program, which brings free music education and enrichment to children and seniors and includes collaboration with the Piedmont Family YMCA. The program offers scholarships, presents free programming, and prices classes below the national average without compromising the pay scale of teachers. The Front Porch began in the home of local educator Emily Morrison in 2015, and its story began on an actual porch in 2015.

Parents and community members describe Roots & Wings as adding a music and movement curriculum to YMCA programming and note that children, teachers, and parents enjoy it. One Front Porch parent reports being moved by the way music and learning are approached for both young and old students. Audience members describe The Front Porch as an intimate and cozy venue for folk, bluegrass, jazz, and other types of music. Another parent shares that their child enjoyed class, practiced at home, and wrote a song after attending.
