acac Youth Programs and Summer Camp is part of acac, which began when Founder Phil Wendel opened the first Atlantic Coast Athletic Club during the 1980s fitness boom. More than 40 years later, that original vision continues under the acac name. acac states that its mission is to improve lives through health and wellness. The organization reports giving back to its club communities through donations, sponsorships, and contributions to local events and non-profit organizations, including more than $1 million donated through its 30 days for $30 campaigns to groups such as the Alzheimer’s Association, Special Olympics, local animal shelters, Boys & Girls Club, local fire and rescue squads, local food banks, UVA Cancer Center, One Love Foundation, and Habitat for Humanity, and by working with local healthcare providers and schools and supporting charitable initiatives and community events.
