The Fifty/50 Team has three locations in Northern Virginia and one in Richmond, and Upstream BJJ in Richmond, Virginia, is the first Fifty/50 affiliate and is owned and operated by Ryan Hall's first Black Belt, Seph Smith. Upstream BJJ in Richmond promotes an open, friendly environment with tough training that defines the Fifty/50 method and offers Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes for kids and adults of all levels.

The Sports Performance Center is staffed by Performance Coach Josh Peacock, and the athletic performance center is staffed by a Performance Coach who is a Certified Athletic Trainer with a background in Exercise Science and Strength & Conditioning.

The Fifty/50 method of instruction has achieved success at every level of grappling and mixed martial arts and is described as an accelerated learning environment.
The academy’s mission is stated as: “Innovate. We train with the best and compete on the world level, constantly pushing ourselves to learn and grow physically, mentally, and technically as we stay on the cutting edge of our sport.” One parent and student testimonial states: “As a student and parent of a 25/50 student, I can’t recommend 50/50 BJJ highly enough. The atmosphere is professional yet kid and family friendly. Instructors are top notch, patient and available. BJJ is a great martial art for everyone to learn, great exercise and builds strong bonds”—Chris, White Belt.
