About
The Minnie H. Peyton Community Center Teen & Youth Program takes place in a multi-purpose facility that includes a full gymnasium, weight and exercise room, arts and crafts room, game lobby, playground, baseball diamond, outdoor basketball and tennis courts, a pavilion area with grills, and an outdoor amphitheater. The program is based in a center that offers activities such as karate, billiards, table tennis, pickleball, cards, board games, bingo, gardening, and art classes including acrylic painting, watercolor painting, and craft classes. Participants also have access to computer and smart device classes, a knitting and crochet group, and daily age-appropriate fitness classes such as line dancing, yoga, strength training, and aerobics.
• Schedule: Senior Center and Therapeutic Recreation hours are Monday–Friday during the day, and the Minnie H. Peyton Community Center at Bailey’s is open Monday–Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
A noon meal is provided on weekdays to members who register. Visitors using the center as a warming or cooling center during extreme weather do not have access to programming or classes unless they are current registered members. The center includes a community social senior program, a county sponsored senior program, a computer clubhouse, multi-purpose rooms, a multi-use lab, an art room with a kiln, a kitchen, a senior center, a gymnasium, a fitness room, and lobby game space. The mission of the Minnie H. Peyton Senior Center at Bailey’s is to engage with older adults in the community and provide a supportive environment that encourages them to be active physically and mentally. On Sept. 14, 2024, community members and county leaders gathered to celebrate the renaming of Bailey’s Community Center as the Minnie H. Peyton Community Center at Bailey’s, and the division director is Chris Scales.
