Virginia Basketball Academy Youth Leagues offers youth basketball leagues that include the VABA Winter League, Fall Skills Academy, VABA Summer Camps, and a Coaching/Leadership Summer Internship Program. Youth basketball leagues and teams are described as the Virginia Basketball Academy's most popular and fastest-growing programs. Team roster spots in the VABA Winter League are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, and waiting lists are available when teams are full.
• Ages: 6–18 years old
The Virginia Basketball Academy provides the highest quality basketball instruction through professionally-trained coaches and invests time and energy training, educating, preparing, and overseeing volunteer coaches. Teams in certain leagues are grouped by high school affiliation, and team formation in some divisions is based on evaluation. Pre-formed teams are allowed in the REC division, and there are no evaluations or balancing of teams in that division. Due to lack of participation, there is not a 7th–8th grade REC division for girls or boys. VABA offers scholarships and financial aid and encourages interested athletes and families to contact VABA about scholarship availability, and VABA is committed to fostering participation in its programs without regard to a family's ability to pay.
Virginia Basketball Academy is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Its mission is “Building Character and Shaping Lives through the Game of Basketball.” All leagues aim to serve the local community to consistently carry out VABA's Mission, Vision, and Values.
