Virginia Basketball Academy Youth Leagues offers youth basketball leagues and teams through programs such as the VABA Winter League. The program also includes the Fall Skills Academy, VABA Summer Camps, and a Coaching/Leadership Summer Internship Program. All activities are centered on the game of basketball.
• Ages: 6–18 years old
Virginia Basketball Academy is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Its mission is “Building Character and Shaping Lives through the Game of Basketball.” All leagues aim to serve the local community to consistently carry out VABA's Mission, Vision, and Values. The program uses professionally-trained coaches and also invests time and energy in training, educating, preparing, and overseeing volunteer coaches. Team roster spots are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, and a waiting list is available when teams are full. Teams are grouped by high school affiliation in several divisions, and team formation in some divisions is based on evaluation. Pre-formed teams are allowed in REC divisions, and there are no evaluations or balancing of teams in those REC divisions. VABA offers scholarships and financial aid and is committed to fostering participation in its programs without regard to a family's ability to pay. VABA pledges that this youth basketball experience will be the best overall youth basketball league a child has ever participated in.
