About
P.A.T.C.H. Summer Camp is a free day camp where participants take part in education on the various duties in which officers specialize in a relaxed environment with an active and hands-on approach. The camp includes exposure to the local police department and the role it plays in the community through a program hosted by the Harrisonburg Police Department. Participants attend an orientation event on Friday, June 19th, from 3:00pm to 4:00pm, followed by camp days from Monday, June 22nd to Friday, June 26th, from 8:00am to 3:30pm.
• Ages: 12–16 years old
• Schedule: One-week day camp with an orientation on June 19 and camp days June 22–26
• Price: P.A.T.C.H. Camp is a free day camp.
The program is supervised by officers within the Harrisonburg Police Department and other volunteers. Lunch is provided for each P.A.T.C.H. camper, and transportation to and from the police department is the responsibility of the family. P.A.T.C.H. Camp is hosted by the Harrisonburg Police Department, and the Community Resource Unit reviews all applications for acceptability in a selective screening process. Applicants must be enrolled in a public or private school, maintain a “C” grade point average verified by their latest report card, and be of good ethical and moral character in school and in the community. Residents of the City of Harrisonburg are given priority, with applicants from other jurisdictions also considered. The camp focuses on fostering Pride, Accountability, Teamwork, Courage, and Honor in youth interested in law enforcement, in line with its stated mission.
