About

Moonlit Wings Productions Kids Acting Classes, Camps & After-School Programs offers kids acting classes, camps, after-school programs, private coaching, and birthday parties. Activities in these programs include acting, music, movement, improv, and team-building, and many sessions feature productions and programs such as ACTify Camp performances of Pitch Perfection, Annie, Wonka, and Disney’s MOANA JR. Families can also access coaching, an LA Acting Trip, and eBooks and resources through the program.

• Ages: 7–18 years old

Programs are led by professionally trained teaching artists working in theatre, film, and the arts in the DC region, and all instructors complete background checks. Most programs conclude with a showcase or performance for families, giving every student an opportunity to participate and perform. Acting classes and camps are for kids ages 7 and up who can work with short scripts and have basic reading skills, while younger children may be better suited for private coaching. Instructors are available to speak with parents at check-in and dismissal, and families receive email updates when needed. Students should bring a pencil and highlighter, scripts are provided, and camp students are asked to pack two snacks and a lunch; if a location includes scheduled swim time, students should bring a swimsuit and towel, and a detailed welcome email with program-specific details is sent before each session.

Moonlit Wings Productions Kids Acting Classes, Camps & After-School Programs states that its mission is to offer inclusive, accessible performing arts experiences for kids and teens of all levels in Northern Virginia, with supportive instruction, real performance opportunities, and a focus on helping every student grow with confidence. The program notes that it is open to all levels and does not require prior acting or theatre experience, and it describes a supportive, inclusive environment that builds confidence, teamwork, and creative expression, with patient instructors guiding students through acting, music, movement, improv, and team-building. Need-based Diversity Scholarships for kids and teens in performing arts programs are awarded seasonally on a rolling basis as space becomes available. The leadership team includes Walid Chaya (Founder & Artistic Director), Jordyn Stewart (Youth Programs Director), Samantha Jalajel (Director of Summer Camps), and Rawan Chaya (Music Education Director).

Moonlit Wings Productions Kids Acting Classes, Camps & After-School Programs has been recognized by Washington Family Magazine as a winner for “Best Arts Program” and “Best Children's Theatre & Drama Instruction.” One parent, Kathleen J., shared that her children will sign up for future sessions and described fantastic teaching, a great community, and that her shy child felt included and enjoyed fun, enriching activities. Another parent, Robert R., described the camps as a great summer activity and said their daughter has become a great performer thanks to the Moonlit Wings camps. A third parent, Hannah K., said the program exceeded their expectations and felt socially and emotionally supportive, and that their child was excited after the first day, made new friends immediately, and was ready to go each morning.
