About

Winwood Children's Center, Lansdowne offers Cadence KickStart Soccer and the Kids Café preschool cooking program. Children take part in hands-on cooking activities with kid-friendly recipes and can join high-energy soccer sessions that are led by teachers they already know and that are part of the daily schedule. The center uses the Ascend Curriculum, which includes Baby Signs, Literacy, Science & Sensory, Mathematics, Technology, Creative Expression, Cultural Understanding, Physical Fitness, and Kind Child, and it features a homelike environment with natural tones, pillows, fabrics, soft seating areas, soft lighting, and accents from home.

• Ages: 0–12 years old
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–6:00 PM, with 12-week Cadence KickStart Soccer and Kids Café program options

Cadence KickStart Soccer runs once per week over 12 weeks, with each session lasting 40–50 minutes. Kids Café is a weekly, 12-week hands-on cooking program where children explore new foods and receive a take-home cooking kit. Families receive pictures and updates throughout the day through an app used by daycare providers and preschool teachers.

The leadership team includes School Director Kirsten Benavides and Assistant Director Ashley Rae. Kirsten Benavides completed her coursework through the Professional Council of Recognition, studied Child Development, and earned the National Teacher of the Year Award from NLCI in 2016. Ashley Rae has an Early Childhood Careers Studies Certificate and is working to complete her associate degree in Early Childhood Education. Cadence Education, which operates the program, has been in business for more than 30 years and has a mission focused on safety and exceptional care and education for children, peace of mind for families, a kind and supportive environment for employees, and meaningful, positive contributions to the communities it serves. The program also participates in community efforts through Cadence Gives Back and “Join Cadence in Supporting St. Jude!” initiatives. The Kind Child component of the Ascend Curriculum is part of the monthly plan and focuses on character traits such as Empathy, a Positive Self-Image, and Thankfulness every two months.
