About
The Merit School of Manassas offers activities that include art, music, Spanish and other foreign language experiences, STEM learning, technology instruction with computers, and physical education classes. Children also take part in field trips and can attend special programs, as well as summer, winter, and spring camps that are part of the program’s offerings. The program uses a developmentally appropriate curriculum in a literacy-enriched learning environment and includes programs and materials for children from infancy through school-age years.

Individualized lesson plans at The Merit School of Manassas are designed by early care professionals. The program includes hot, nutritious USDA-approved meals and snacks at no extra cost for children without food allergies, and meals and snacks are not included for children with food allergies, with these exclusions not affecting tuition costs. The school follows a mission that includes providing an individualized learning environment, a warm and nurturing environment, a challenging and individualized curriculum that encourages creativity and love of learning, a variety of experiences such as field trips, computers, foreign language, and special programs, an open door policy to include families in the educational process, and a safe and supportive learning environment that accepts and respects diversity, promotes character building, problem solving skills, manners, and social competency, and fosters each child’s feelings of self-esteem and self-worth.
The Merit School of Virginia, which includes The Merit School of Manassas, was established in 1980 and has been providing quality childcare since 1980. The program is accredited by Cognia (COGNIA) and has been recognized in the Inside NOVA 2024 Best of 2024 Readers’ Poll. The school places a strong emphasis on building character and instilling values such as kindness, respect, and responsibility, and students learn cooperation, empathy, and good citizenship through interactive activities and positive reinforcement.
Merit School of Manassas is proud to support military families and partners with the National Association of Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies (NACCRRA) through its program Child Care Aware of America, which works with U.S. Military members to find and afford child care that suits their unique needs. The Merit School is committed to a culture of community service and actively engages students in community involvement. Parent feedback includes comments describing the experience as positive, noting a family-like school atmosphere, sensitive and caring administration, staff and teachers, appreciation for hands-on learning centers, and children looking forward to Spanish, music, and physical education classes and being eager to attend school.
