About
Camp Hanover Summer Camp Programs offer faith-based overnight and day camp experiences for elementary, middle, and high school youth. The programs take place in a Christ-centered community where participants live, work, play, laugh, and worship together in Christian community. Camp Hanover Summer Camp Programs also emphasize caring and acceptance and invite participants to respond to God’s call to be stewards of the earth and all creation.
• Ages: 6–18 years old
Camp Hanover Summer Camp Programs are part of a ministry founded in 1957, following a 1956 gathering of 350 Presbyterians who laid the foundation for a Christian camp in the woods. The camp’s mission is to create inclusive community, inspire each other to live in God’s love, and equip all people to live out God’s call. Camp Hanover is a fully accredited member of the American Camp Association and has maintained this accreditation consistently for over 60 years, meeting or exceeding the summer camping industry’s standards for safe operation and employing best practices. Camp Hanover is a Ministry Partner with the Presbytery of the James and the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), working to nurture and deepen the spiritual lives of congregations and to provide members with ways to practice their faith through mission service and outreach.
Parents describe Camp Hanover Summer Camp Programs as a place where “all are welcome” and say that this welcome is reflected in the care and love shown to everyone who visits. One parent reports that camp had a “wonderful impact” on their child’s character, and another notes seeing their children return “stronger, more confident, and self-aware” after many summers. A mother of a high school camper calls camp a turning point in shaping who her child is, and a mother of elementary school campers highlights counselors who play with campers, join them on the mud slide, stay active outdoors, and listen when needed.
