Cathy Hudgins Community Center Youth Programs

Cathy Hudgins Community Center Youth Programs include activities such as basketball, pickleball, table tennis, ping pong, billiards, board games, cards, bingo, and gardening. The programs also offer art classes like acrylic painting, watercolor painting, and craft classes, as well as daily age-appropriate fitness classes such as line dancing, yoga, strength training, and aerobics. Additional options at the center include computer and smart device classes, a knitting and crochet group, ESOL class, Tot Time, yoga, Zumba, badminton, seated and standing Tai Chi with 18 movements, SAIL, and an arthritis class.

• Schedule: Open Monday–Thursday with program hours from 9 a.m.–9 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m.–10 p.m., and Saturday from noon–10 p.m.

The Cathy Hudgins Community Center Youth Programs take place at a facility that includes an art room, a computer lab, and a teen room. The center provides a variety of recreational, cultural, and educational programs for youth, adults, and seniors, and youth programs provide a safe space for 1st through 12th graders to socialize and work on academics in a structured environment. The professional and creative staff collaborates daily to share program ideas and ensure that the services being provided meet the needs and interests of the community. The leadership team includes Division Director Chris Scales. The Cathy Hudgins Community Center Advisory Council was established on May 17, 2002, and on May 4, 2021, Southgate Community Center was renamed in honor of Supervisor Catherine Hudgins.
