Science Museum of Virginia Youth and Family Programs include activities such as Survival of the Slowest, Curiosity Camp-Out, Rat Basketball, Science on a Sphere, and Sound Science Demo. The program also offers experiences in The Dome such as live astronomy shows and giant screen films including Arctic: Our Frozen Planet, Birth of Planet Earth, Horse Power, and Encounters in the Milky Way, as well as a Laser Show: Jimi Hendrix & The Doors. Hands-on options include Construct the Tallest Tower and Embroidered Bookmark.

• Schedule: Open 9:30 a.m.–5 p.m., with live science activities and shows offered at set times on select days, and Curiosity Camp-Out running from Saturday at 6 p.m. to Sunday at 9 a.m.

The Science Museum of Virginia states that it looks for opportunities to encourage all Virginians to enrich their lives through science and describes itself as a catalyst for inspiration that sparks curiosity, encourages discovery and generates ideas in science, technology, engineering and math. The Science Museum of Virginia Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Science lovers anywhere in the world can access videos and digital content the Science Museum creates.
