SwimRVA offers swim lessons through its Learn-to-Swim program and Swim School, as well as the SwimRVA Rapids swim team and the SwimRVA Hammerheads program. The program also includes water polo through SwimRVA Water Polo, artistic and synchronized swimming through the Artistic Swimming Team, Summer Camps where every camper receives swim lessons as part of camp, and the Autism Swims program. Additional activities include an Adult swim team, Hammerheads Masters Swimming, Running University, Senior Wellness programs, and training courses in lifeguarding, CPR, first aid, water rescue, Lifeguard Instructor (LGI), and CPO courses.

SwimRVA is a nonprofit community hub for aquatics in the Richmond region that began as the Greater Richmond Aquatics Partnership (GRAP). Its mission as a non-profit is to change lives through aquatics with programs designed to empower every kind of swimmer, now and for life, and to build a Drownproof Richmond. The organization states that swimming is more than a sport and identifies three mission pillars: Swim for Safety, Swim for Health, and Swim for Economic Vitality. SwimRVA has partnerships with civic leaders, schools, community groups, and organizations such as the YMCA of Greater Richmond, the Salvation Army Boys & Girls Clubs, and VSU, and it provides cost-free, school-based swimming lessons to second graders across multiple districts in the Richmond region. Together with the YMCA of Greater Richmond, SwimRVA provides every second grader in the community the opportunity to learn how to swim and also partners with middle and high schools to teach swim skills and provide life safety certifications. The program uses a station-based curriculum, offers month-to-month billing, includes programs for any age, and serves as a training hub certifying lifeguards, instructors (LGIs), and CPOs. SwimRVA notes that it operates one of two water polo teams in Virginia, runs Senior Wellness programs that focus on low-impact, high-benefit aquatic exercise, offers an Autism Swims program designed in partnership with behavioral experts and experienced aquatic educators, and has a stated goal of $7 million in annual economic impact.
