Visual Arts Center of Richmond Classes and Camps

Visual Arts Center of Richmond Classes and Camps offers hands-on experiences in clay, drawing and painting, fiber, flameworking, glass, letterpress, metals, darkroom photography, printmaking, wood, painting, photography, decorative arts, digital media, creative writing, writing, and other visual media. The program takes place in a renovated 30,000-square-foot arts center that includes 17 professionally equipped studios and the 1,800-square-foot True F. Luck Gallery, which focuses on the materials and processes of contemporary artists. VisArts offers more than 1,600 visual and creative arts classes each year, taught by more than 250 instructors.

The Visual Arts Center of Richmond has offered art experiences for adults and children since 1963. Its mission statement is “We believe in art for everyone, creativity for life.” The organization offers hundreds of people free access to art classes through its community and school partnerships. It gives two major awards each year to people in its creative community. VisArts also offers a range of residency programs to support artists at all stages of their careers, and Studio Access provides affordable access to its 17 professionally equipped studios. Second Friday classes offer a monthly way for families and friends to make art together in different types of classes.
