SwimRVA Camps and Youth Aquatic Programs are part of a non-profit organization whose stated mission is to change lives through aquatics. The organization uses a station-based curriculum and month-to-month billing and describes its coaches as expert coaches. Its aquatic programs are described as making water safety and aquatic fitness accessible for all. The camps program is described as keeping kids active and healthy through several different activities that spark creativity and fun, and artistic swimming is described as an active way for children to express their creativity. The Running University program states that running endurance on land begins in the water, with swim workouts designed for any running level to increase stamina while decreasing the impact on joints. The water polo team is one of two in Virginia and is used as an opportunity to teach young people essential work ethic skills. Through the Drownproof Richmond initiative and a partnership with the YMCA of Greater Richmond, SwimRVA provides every second grader in their community the opportunity to learn how to swim. The organization also states a goal of $7 million in annual economic impact through attracting regional competitions and events to Richmond.
