About
Augusta United Soccer Club Programs include a World Cup Camp where players are placed onto World Cup teams, train on a topic of the day, and compete in World Cup-style matches. At this camp, players take part in small-sided games, daily trivia, fun contests, a World Cup tournament competition, and a Friday night pizza party, and each player receives a soccer ball and a World Cup Camp t-shirt. Augusta United also runs Player Placement Tryouts and Player ID sessions for its travel and competitive programs.
• Ages: 4–18 years old
• Schedule: World Cup Camp runs July 13–17, 2026, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM, with additional 2026–2027 Player Placement Tryouts scheduled on select dates in April and May for U11–U19 boys and girls.
• Price: $95 per player (World Cup Camp).
Augusta United’s mission is to unite Augusta County, Staunton, and Waynesboro around soccer by offering programs for all ages and abilities and combining these locales into one greater community. The club states that aspiring players may pursue fun or excellence within the game, and that its Staff and Board of Directors are dedicated to the positive experience of its members. Augusta United traces its history to a 2007 merger of Blue Ridge Soccer Association in Waynesboro, the Staunton Steam, and Woodrow Wilson Soccer Club in Fishersville, and a 2015 merger of Augusta FC with the Soccer Organization of the Charlottesville Area, after which it operated as SOCA Augusta for several years. Augusta United remains affiliated with sister clubs SOCA (Soccer Organization of the Charlottesville Area) and Skyline Elite SC, and Augusta United travel teams represent the region throughout Virginia.
The leadership team includes Jeff Darling as Augusta Director of Coaching, Alyson Pieno as Program Director, Luke Vesely as Assistant Technical Director and Augusta Admin, Jimmy Tharpe as Technical Director for Virginia Soccer Alliance, and Kyle Congleton as Academy Director. Augusta United and SOCA are non-profit 501(c)(3) organizations that do not receive government funding and rely on business sponsorships, individual donations, and player registrations to provide programming for the community. Through its partnerships with neighboring clubs, Augusta United uses a shared curriculum, supportive staffing, greater economies of scale, and proven youth soccer development methods.
