Augusta United Soccer Club traces its history to a 2007 merger of Blue Ridge Soccer Association in Waynesboro, the Staunton Steam, and Woodrow Wilson Soccer Club in Fishersville, which created Augusta FC, the area’s first county-wide soccer program for Waynesboro, Staunton, and Augusta. In 2015, Augusta FC merged with the Soccer Organization of the Charlottesville Area and operated as SOCA Augusta for several years. Today, Augusta United remains affiliated with sister clubs SOCA (Soccer Organization of the Charlottesville Area) and Skyline Elite SC and enjoys a shared curriculum, supportive staffing, greater economies of scale, and youth soccer development methods through partnerships with neighboring clubs. The club’s motto, “Three As One,” reflects the unity of Augusta County, Staunton, and Waynesboro. Augusta United travel teams represent this region throughout the state of Virginia, while the club also offers recreational soccer play. Augusta United and SOCA are non-profit 501(c)(3) organizations, and Augusta United SC donations are tax deductible. Augusta United and SOCA do not receive government funding and rely on business sponsorships, individual donations, and player registrations to provide programming.
The mission of Augusta United Soccer Club is to unite Augusta County, Staunton, and Waynesboro around soccer and to offer soccer programs for all ages and abilities, including both youth and adult participants. According to the mission statement, Augusta United travel teams represent the region throughout Virginia, and the club remains devoted locally to recreational play. The mission statement also notes that Augusta United’s Staff and Board of Directors are dedicated to the positive experience of its members and that the club aims for participants to enjoy their current activities and return for further involvement.
