Bothell Cougar Junior Football & Cheer offers tackle football, flag football, and cheer, along with participation in the Bothell Cougar Camp. Participants also take part in the 4th of July Bothell community parade as part of the program’s activities.
• Ages: 5–13 years old
• Schedule: Seasonal program with registration closing June 30 and key dates including a 4th of July community parade, Bothell Cougar Camp July 27–30, pre-season practice starting August 10, and games beginning September 5
The program’s mission is to provide a positive and enjoyable experience for all participants, build positive self-esteem for players, teach team participation and responsibility, teach respect and honor for opponents and all other participants, teach sportsmanship and fair play, teach football skills in an environment where players compete with others of comparable age and weight, and teach all participants how to win, how to lose, and how to do both with dignity. Bothell Cougar Junior Football & Cheer is part of the Greater Eastside Junior Football Association (GEJFA), which serves youth between the ages of 8 and 14 and has five levels of play: Rookie, Cub, Sophomore, Junior Varsity, and Varsity, with rules to ensure equitable playing time for all players. The organization is a volunteer-run nonprofit, led by President Rachel Uhlig, and is described as one of the premier youth football and cheer organizations in the Pacific Northwest that serves boys and girls in grades K–8 and never turns a child away due to financial need. Bothell Cougar Junior Football & Cheer is a feeder program where many athletes go on to play for Bothell High School, with some advancing to collegiate and professional levels, and it competes in a league of multiple franchise clubs that each have geographical boundaries often similar to the local high school. The website is powered by SportsEngine’s Sports Relationship Management (SRM) software and is owned by and subject to the Bothell Cougar Junior Football & Cheer privacy policy.
