About
Issaquah Baseball Club offers select baseball that includes tournament play and scrimmages. Players take part in select baseball games and tournaments in addition to scrimmages with their teams.
• Ages: 8–12 years old
Issaquah Baseball Club lists a leadership team that includes Ken Hunziker (President), Sicily Graham (VP/Secretary), Brooke Sullivan (Treasurer), Matt Brown (Equipment & Uniforms), Alex Justus (Training), Koji Pupo (Communication), Ryan Carter (Tournaments), and Jared Carvalho, Bob Niemann, Kyle Buckner, Michael Gray, and Arik Van Zandt (At Large). The club’s mission is to provide Issaquah’s most talented 8- to 12-year-old baseball players opportunities for higher-level skill development, competition and commitment to the game, to create a well-rounded baseball player, to develop physical, mental and emotional skills and teach fundamental game strategies, to prepare players to play competitive baseball after age 12, and to provide the Issaquah community an experience that promotes sportsmanship, instruction, teamwork, and respect for and enjoyment of the game of baseball. The Issaquah Baseball Club works with Issaquah Little League to maintain a symbiotic relationship, and playing in Issaquah Little League is a requirement for joining the club. Children playing in Issaquah Baseball Club must live within the Issaquah School District boundary. Forms necessary for play include a concussion form and a code of conduct. The program is a select baseball program for kids ages 8–12 who play in Issaquah Little League, and its season is 100 percent complementary to the Issaquah Little League schedule. It is described as the only local select baseball organization that builds its schedule to complement Issaquah Little League, allowing for a solid commitment to both a Little League team and a select team with no conflicts. It is described as ideal for the multi-sport athlete, and most boys involved in Issaquah Baseball Club play at least one other sport, including basketball, hockey and football. All age groups participate in one to two tournaments per year that require hotel stays, with past trips to Yakima, Wenatchee and Vancouver, Washington, and at the 12U level the experience culminates in one trip to play in a tournament in Arizona.
One testimonial describes Issaquah Baseball Club as Little League-friendly and working with Issaquah Little League to maintain a symbiotic relationship that helps protect kids’ arm health and allows kids to play Little League while also competing at a higher level at non-conflicting times. Another testimonial states that the club insists that players are or become good teammates and describes camaraderie in the dugout as “the IBC way.” A parent testimonial notes that the club has developed their kids’ knowledge and skill for the game and that their family has made long-term friendships through the program. A testimonial from the Issaquah High School varsity baseball coach states that Issaquah Baseball Club is a great organization for the development of future Issaquah High School baseball players and supports the club’s efforts to work with Issaquah Little League.
