Washington Fencing Academy offers Olympic-style fencing with a focus on saber fencing. The program includes high-energy, fast-paced saber training through classes, private lessons, events, and practice sessions. Participants train on a dedicated fencing floor, and there is a comfortable viewing area with free WiFi for parents, students, and visitors.

Washington Fencing Academy has been a cornerstone of the Seattle Eastside fencing community since 2002. It is a fully sanctioned member of the United States Fencing Association (USFA). The academy is recognized as a premier saber fencing school on Seattle's East Side and specializes in Olympic-style saber fencing, with a focus on high-energy, fast-paced saber training for all skill levels. It is home to an active and successful Veteran (40+) program, and many National and World Champions have trained there.

Head Coach and Co-Owner Mark Lundborg holds the instructor rank of Moniteur, currently holds an A24 rating, is a three-time World Champion in Veteran Men’s Saber, and has earned six World Championship medals in total. He received the USA Fencing Veterans Committee’s Fencer of the Year Award in both 2022 and 2023. Co-Owner Angie Bongaarts is working toward her Assistant Moniteur instructor certification. Ethan Miller is a key member of the coaching team, currently holds a C25 rating, is a rated referee, and is working toward his Assistant Moniteur instructor certification. Kristyna (Kiki) Kalisova is an instructor and currently holds a C22 rating. Coach/Instructor Jeff Geuble currently holds a B21 rating, won bronze in Veteran Men’s Saber (Team) at the 2019 World Championships, and placed 6th individually in the Vet 60–69 Men’s Saber category.

The leadership team includes Head Coach and Co-Owner Mark Lundborg, Co-Owner Angie Bongaarts, coach Ethan Miller, instructor Kristyna (Kiki) Kalisova, and coach/instructor Jeff Geuble. The academy states that it welcomes everyone from first-time fencers to seasoned athletes and describes itself as more than just a fencing club, emphasizing a family-like and supportive environment. Its mission statement says that training combines intensity and fun, focuses on technical skills along with confidence, decision-making, and a winning mindset for life, and is committed to personal growth and building character, with dedication to the whole person and not just the fencer.

Many local school districts allow students to get PE credit for sports activities outside of school. Parent and student comments describe the staff as kind, caring, friendly, knowledgeable, and great with kids, and mention that kids enjoy the classes, memberships are described as fair and easy to use, and the program is described as a great club with great coaches and the best fencing classes in Issaquah.
