The Lakewood Dojo offers Kinder Karate for children ages 4-6, Beginner Karate, Karate Kata, Karate Kumite, and self defense. Kinder Karate is scheduled Tue, Thu, and Fri from 3:45-4:45, and a complimentary trial session is required for placement purposes. Ongoing beginner classes are offered, and classes are in person only.

- Kinder Karate — 4-6 years old · Tue, Thu, Fri 3:45-4:45 · Designed especially for children 4-6 years old. A complimentary trial session is required for placement purposes.
- Karate Kata — Wed 4:00-5:00 (beginner emphasis), Wed 5:30-6:45 (advanced emphasis) · Pre-arranged movements that build speed, strength, and balance. Kata is a category in tournaments.
- Beginner Karate — Mon 4:00-5:00 (beginner emphasis), Mon 6:00-7:00 (advanced emphasis), Mon 7:00-7:45 (advanced only), Tue 5:00-6:00, Tue 6:15-7:30, Fri 5:00-6:15 · Your first weeks in the Dojo are crucial. New students learn the basic movements correctly at their own pace.
- Karate Kumite — Thu 5:00-6:00 (beginner emphasis), Thu 6:15-7:30 (advanced emphasis) · The actual fighting techniques of karate. Kumite is also a category in tournaments.
- Self Defense — Karate is one of the most effective systems of self defense. Taught and learned correctly.
- Karate ZOOM Classes — We are currently offering in person classes only.

About the provider
The Lakewood Dojo was established in 1995 and has served the Lakewood community for over 30 years. Its leadership team includes Sensei Charles Sweigart, Sensei Tünde Nagy-Sweigart, and several sempai instructors. The dojo is dedicated to cultivating the individual excellence of each student through instruction in karate-do, and it was selected the best martial arts school in Pierce County for 2024 and 2025.
Ongoing beginner classes are offered so students can start at anytime. A complimentary trial class is available. A complimentary trial session is required for placement purposes for Kinder Karate. Classes will be divided into smaller groups, if necessary. Private lessons available by appointment. In person classes only.
