About

Washington Karate Association offers Traditional Karate Training in person for all levels from beginner through advanced. It also offers Online Karate Training through livestream classes for all levels from beginner through advanced, with the note that it is appropriate for established students who have a grasp on beginner karate fundamentals. Other offerings include Kinder Karate, Summer Karate Camps, an After School Program, Remote School Program, Kobudo (Weapons), Karate All Levels, Kihon Karate All Levels, and Advanced Karate.

Programs

  • Traditional Karate Training — In-person classes; available for all levels from beginner through advanced.
  • Online Karate Training — Livestream karate classes; available for all levels from beginner through advanced. Appropriate for established students who have a grasp on beginner karate fundamentals.
  • After School Program — Mon-Fri, 2:00-6:00 pm · Afterschool childcare karate program. Follows the Seattle Public Schools calendar and bell times. Transportation available from select Seattle schools.
  • Kinder Karate — Ages 3-5 years · Sat, 10:30-11:30 am · For children ages 3-5 years.
  • Summer Karate Camps — Ages 5-14 years old · Mon-Fri, 8:30 am-6:00 pm · Week-long summer camps. Activities include hikes, park visits, artistic activities, and special martial arts activities. Children may enroll for multiple camps.
  • Self-Defense Seminars — Adults · Short-term, intensive hands-on instruction in self-defense.
  • Remote School Program — K-8 and middle school students · In-person childcare program in Seattle for remote learning support.
  • Kobudo (Weapons) — Fri, 5:30-6:30 pm · Blue belt & above or with instructor permission.
  • Karate All Levels — Mon-Fri, 4:30-5:30 pm; Mon-Thu, 6:00-7:00 pm; Fri, 5:30-6:30 pm · Livestream class available for some sessions.
  • Kihon Karate All Levels — Sat, 11:30 am-12:30 pm · Livestream class available.
  • Advanced Karate — Sat, 12:30-1:30 pm · Blue belt & above or with instructor permission. Livestream class available.

At a glance

  • Ages: 3–18 years old
  • General schedule: Mon-Fri: ASP Karate 3:30-4:30 pm; Karate All Levels 4:30-5:30 pm; Karate All Levels 6:00-7:00 pm (Thu 6:00-7:30 pm). Fri also has Kobudo 5:30-6:30 pm. Sat has Kinder Karate 10:30-11:30 am, Kihon Karate All Levels 11:30 am-12:30 pm, and Advanced Karate 12:30-1:30 pm.

About the provider

Washington Karate Association was established in November 1966. Its mission is to cultivate the individual excellence of each student through instruction in Karate-Do, with students learning skills and values to develop their personal best and approach life with courage, confidence, and the will to prevail. The program is a member of the International Hayashi-Ha Shitoryu Federation.

Registration is only open to current members at this time for the 2026 summer camps. Space is limited. Non-member registration opens April 1st. No workshops are scheduled at this time for self-defense workshops.
